Ianto heard a distant beeping somewhere in the distance, it sounded urgent but he didn’t want to deal with whatever it was at the moment he was too concerned at the moment to even care.
Ianto woke with a start an alarm was going off somewhere in the Hub. He rubbed his eyes groggily as he lifted his head of his desk. Realizing he must have fallen asleep and been dreaming he got up to see what the computer was complaining about. Memories of the dream he was having flooded back into his mind and he realized he was having another of his bad dreams about Torchwood One. His nights were almost always plagued with bad memories turned into dreams. Ianto felt ashamed to have fallen asleep at work on his desk, it rarely happened.
When he reached the computer he read the screen telling him that a pair of weevils and something else he’d never seen before were in the area. It seemed suspicious that the creatures were all relatively close and he wondered if he should go check things out. Ianto decided that he didn’t want to wake Jack, who was actually sleeping for once in case it wasn’t anything worthy of depriving his boss of his beauty sleep. Jack could get rather crabby when woken and Ianto still groggy himself didn’t want to deal with him. Double checking the computer screen for the location he grabbed the car keys to the Torchwood SUV and his coat and headed out. The SUV was always equipped with plenty of weevil spray, retcon, and anything else the team would need to use against an alien, thanks to Ianto.
---------------------------------
A few minutes later he arrived at a dimly lit alley behind a grocery store, he saw nothing out of the ordinary except for a flash of movement out of the corner of his eye. Quietly opening the driver side door, Ianto climbed out slowly taking in everything around him. He was very observant even at three in the morning. He collected the things he needed and turned on his flashlight to start looking for any sign of weevils or whatever else was here. Ianto shined the flashlight down another alley, and turned away. As soon as he had turned something lunged at him from behind, sharp teeth penetrated his shoulder. He yelled out in agony as sprayed the thing behind him, only hoping it was a weevil and not the other alien life form, he knew the spray wouldn’t work on another creature. Both the weevil and Ianto went down in a fury of sharp claws, teeth, and fists. Finally Ianto gained the upper hand, punching it a few more times than necessary and using the last contents of the spray can he was holding inches from the weevils face.
Standing up he clutched at his throbbing shoulder and he felt blood coming from the wounds, Ianto swore loudly in Welsh. Aside from the injuries on his shoulder, he had managed to get away with only a few scratches. Maybe coming alone wasn’t such a good idea after all. There was the sound of footsteps and he spun around, swinging his should a little too hard and swearing again. “Who’s there?” he asked trying not to yell in case it was the other weevil who could easily be provoked. It turned out to look nothing like a weevil at all, in fact it was a woman with long brown hair who stood a little shorter than Ianto.

It was all over the news. Lights appearing in the sky last night. People thinking a UFO, but Mr. Smith was able to confirm that it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. So nothing was going on in Ealing where Sarah Jane was in her attic. Clyde was over, telling some jokes and Rani was there of course. It was a rather slow day. These days were rare and usually when she had a day off, something happened. It was only a matter of time, she supposed.
And she was right. It wasn't long before Mr. Smith came out of the wall with news of two alien life forms being detected in Cardiff. Not a place she usually went to. They had Torchwood and she tried her best to stay away from Torchwood. Rani and Clyde were getting excited about going, but she shook her head. Sarah was planning on going, maybe getting to the aliens before Torchwood could come and harm them, but she wasn't going to take Rani and Clyde with her. She wouldn't mind so much if this was in Ealing, around this neighborhood. But it wasn't. It could be dangerous and she didn't want them injured.
After explaining way, she grabbed her purse and left the house, locking up behind her. The kids went out with her. Besides it being dangerous, she also didn't want them leaving England. How would she explain that to their parents, especially if something happened to them? Best to leave them there. In her car, she made sure she had the sonic. Of course she did. She never forgot that. Sarah needed that in case she needed to open locked doors or something.
When she made it into Cardiff, her watch picked up one alien life form right away, but it wasn't identifying the species. Mr. Smith had said two, but the other one wasn't near her location apparently. If it was, her watch would've picked it up and right now, it was only identifying the one. Sarah Jane would worry about the other one when her watch picked it up. Hopefully, it was before Torchwood got to it. Against them, it probably wouldn't stand a chance.
As she drove, the signal to the one got stronger and when it was really strong, she parked her car and walked the rest of the way to it. There she found a man. A young man with a spray can and something that was obviously not of this world, but not something she had run into. "I'm Sarah Jane Smith," she replied, looking between him and the alien. "Who're you and are you alright?" It looked like he was injured. Nodding at the alien, she said, "What did you do to him? Do you even know what it is?"

"I'm Sarah Jane Smith," the woman told Ianto as she looked between him and the weevil. It looked like she had never seen a weevil before but she didn’t look alarmed either, just concerned. She asked if he was alright and he nodded slightly, before she asked about the weevil that was still on the ground unconscious. “Jones, Ianto Jones,”he smiled to himself he hadn’t said that for a long time, it was cheesy but it worked, It’s a weevil, they’re all over Cardiff.”He informed her, giving a wary glance in the alien’s direction. He would probably just have to retcon her later anyway so what was the point in trying to lie. “This,” Ianto held up the empty can in his hand, “is weevil spray; it subdues weevils so we can capture them. We deal with them all the time.” It was true they were all over Cardiff, but Ianto hadn’t been in the field that long with Torchwood Three so the we part wasn’t exactly right.
The weevil started to stir a little, surprisingly the spray was starting to wear off, maybe the weevils had started to build up an immunity to it. That would give Owen something to do for awhile instead of shouting for coffee every five minutes. Leaving the alien he quickly went to get a net or whatever restraints he could find in the back of the SUV. After searching around for a minute he found what he was looking for and immerged from the back of the car with a large black net and more weevil spray. Ianto put the net down on the pavement and rolled the weevil on to the net before spraying it again. “That should be good for now, sorry about that.” He added politely. “What are you doing here anyway?” he asked suddenly realizing that the only way she could’ve found him and the weevil was if she had heard the fighting, and how likely was that? As far as he knew Torchwood was the only organization in the area that dealt with extraterrestrials. There could be some people who were a little too curious about all the occurrences that happened in Cardiff and had dug a little too far.
Ianto’s face hardened, this was suspicious, he took a quick look over of Sarah Jane. He always did when he met new people, and he noticed everything. His eyes stopped on a watch on her wrist, something about it was unusual. The watch seemed more complicated than any watch Ianto had ever seen. He was curious but decided not to say anything and wait until she had answered his question before saying any more. The weevil stirred again distracting Ianto, he really needed to find the other weevil and get both back to the Hub before it became conscious again.

Of all the aliens she had run into, either to help or to stop them from taking over the world, she didn't know weevils. They must not go to England too often. She must remember to ask Mr. Smith about them later. Find out as much as she could about them. When he mentioned they dealt with them all the time, Sarah Jane wondered who he worked for. Probably Torchwood. If it was UNIT, they probably wouldn't have sent one man out. "We?" she questioned. "Who do you work for, Torchwood, UNIT, or another group?" She knew of all the groups out there or just about all the groups. She also knew there were also amateurs running around. He could be an amateur. "How do you deal with them?"
She watched as it began stirring and wondered why they were even on Earth. There was a reason why every alien came here. If these weevils came here looking for help, they must think humans were savages or something. Knocking them out with that spray and then whatever else they did. Of course it was a different story if they were dangerous. Sarah didn't like violence, but with dangerous creatures, there wasn't always a choice. She herself had killed aliens before if there was no way else to stop them. "Same thing you are by the looks of things. I knew there were aliens in the area, so I came. Can't ignore aliens, they could be dangerous."
Sarah Jane glanced at her watch, studying it for a long time. It wasn't picking up the other alien now, which meant it wasn't near them at the moment. The only one it was picking up, she was guessing was the weevil since she knew Ianto was definitely human. She wondered where it was and what it was, whether it was another weevil or not. When Sarah noticed him looking at it, she closed it. There was no point in saying it was a normal watch, considering normal watches didn't open like that, but she wasn't going to tell him what it was. Unless if it was absolutely necessary. "Ianto, have you seen another aliens? There is another one around here. Somewhere."
