It had started out as a joke, going to the carnival planet. They weren't Jack's thing, but he'd wanted to see it anyhow. He'd planned to just lurk, see what all the hype was about, but he hadn't intended to actually do much of anything. But he had gone to a fortune teller, only because she had been absolutely stunning and he didn't mind the eye candy. And then, without him even mentioning the man, she had said that The Doctor would be on New Earth soon, that they would cross paths.
Which was why for a week now he'd been on New Earth. He'd gone a lot of places, just walking around, listening for the sound of the TARDIS, but no luck. It was starting to sink in that maybe the fortune teller had been wrong. He'd never much trusted them as it was, but he'd hoped maybe he'd been wrong. Just this once.
He hadn't even been paying attention, had just been grabbing a bite to eat when he'd heard it. He left the rest of his food and left money on the table to pay before taking off in the direction of the noise he'd heard. He would know that sound anywhere because only the TARDIS could make it.
He ran almost half a mile before he rounded a corner and finally saw it there. Just as gorgeous as ever and it brought a smile to his face as he picked up speed, slowing as he neared the box.
"Oh, Doctor, it's been to long," he muttered to himself as he knocked on the wood of the police box. He was sure he looked like a madman to people passing by, if they were even paying attention, but he couldn't be bothered caring. "Doctor! It's Jack!" he called, hoping those wouldn't be the words that made The Doctor decide he'd landed on the wrong planet. He really didn't want to ride to the end of time clinging to the side of the TARDIS again, once was enough.

New Earth. He'd brought Rose here before, it brought many good and bad memories, Cassandra and the cat-peoples clones. Sickening. But he'd never come it alone before. It was only a brief stop, honestly. Jack. Captain-
'Doctor! It's Jack!'
Ah yes, just the man he'd popped down to see. In a bit of a playful mood, The Doctor grabbed the scanner and pulled it down, using it to speak to Jack. "Jack who, not the ripper I hope, very unpleasant fellow, that one. And not Jack Frost, it's summer. I hope it's not Sunday..."
"..And it's not Jack, because there's very obviously no Jill. Could it be Mr. Skellington? No, no, not real..."
He started to walk towards the doors, back to the console, missing Jack's expression only to push the door open with a dramatic "HELLLLOOOO." A thud made him frown and he peeked around the door to see Jack on the ground.
"I did it again, didn't I?" he said to himself, straightening his bow tie and arching a brow, a silly grin on his face. "Well if it isn't Captain Jack Harkness, sitting around on the job are we?"

"Yes, well you know how I am, Doctor, always the lazy one of the bunch," he played along with a smile, standing and pulling The Doctor into a tight hug, not giving him a choice in the matter. He pulled away after a moment, hands gripping the other man's shoulders as he eyed him up. "You looked different the last time I saw you," he pointed out.
Always getting himself into trouble, that man, but it had never been to benefit himself. The last time he'd changed was to save Rose's life, after all. And what a worthy cause that was. And the funny thing about The Doctor was that he always seemed to get more attractive with each regeneration. Younger as well, it seemed. Except...
"What the hell is this?" he asked, voice dripping with amusement as he reached up to tug at the bowtie around the man's neck. "Not your best look, but it kind of suits this new face," he admitted, patting The Doctor on the cheek. "You planning to invite me inside or are we going to just stand here shooting the breeze? I'd rather not. It's raining, in case you haven't noticed, and a little chilly."

"Oh, Jack. A little rain never hurt anyone... Unless you're a Racnos..." The Doctor quipped and plucked affectionately at his bow tie, looking pleased with himself about it. He really did like bow ties, almost as much as he liked Jelly Babies. Mmm, he hadn't had a Jelly Baby in a while... Oh, yes. Jack. Focusing on the broad shouldered man who was getting rained on, looking over his shoulder to make sure they were alone and not being watched.
"Come along, then, Jack," he arched a brow and stepped back, holding the door wide.
