After finding Ianto again, it had occurred to Jack that he hadn't gone to catch up with Gwen and Rhys like he'd planned to do and so he'd popped back in time, getting the date somewhere close and finding his way to their place. If Gwen was anything like he expected, she would have stayed where she was with the hope that he would one day return. And maybe he should have before now. But she'd been wanting to have a baby and there was no way he was going to keep that from her. But now? Years later? He was sure a visit would be just fine.
The street had changed quite a lot, but as he approached the house that had been Gwen's, he realized it still looked very much the same, down to the car in the driveway. Rhys' car wasn't there, or at least not the one he'd had, but for all Jack knew he could have gotten a new car or something. Still, the likelihood of someone moving into the house that drove the same car and kept it looking the same were slim which meant Gwen was still here.
He couldn't keep the smile off his face as he headed to the door, only hesitating a moment before confidently rapping on the door, though not too loudly just in case there were little ones to think about. But he didn't hear anything at first and figured they'd gone out together in the second car. He knocked a second time, waiting a moment before deciding they were gone and that he should just come back another time. Shame, really. He was really looking forward to seeing Gwen...

Rhys wasn't home, but Gwen was there with her daughter, telling her stories of aliens and her time with Torchwood, leaving out all the nastiness. If Rhys had been there, he probably would've yelled at her for telling those stories. He didn't like hearing them, didn't think they were appropriate. He just didn't like anything to do with Torchwood, but Gwen didn't care. Anwen didn't see them as anything more than fairy tales. Too young to realize that they were based on true stories of what her mother had been through. No way would it have an effect on her.
She was in the middle of a story when she heard the knock. She stopped speaking right away. It wasn't unusual to get visitors, but she tended to get wary now when they did. Making sure she had a loaded gun, she went over to the door, hiding the gun behind her back. When Gwen saw who it was, she thought her eyes might be playing tricks on her. She never gave up believing that Jack would return one day, but it had been awhile and she was beginning to think that he wouldn't return until she was an old woman with grandchildren.
This was another reason to be glad Rhys wasn't around. She could only imagine what his reaction would be to seeing Jack again. He had never liked Jack, though now she supposed he had a right to, considering Torchwood had kind of taken over her life in the beginning. Opening the door, Gwen smiled. "Jack," she said, stepping forward to give him a quick hug before stepping back. "I always knew you would return. Come in." Gwen walked into the house and put the gun back. "Staying, Jack, or are you running away again?"

It had taken a bit for someone to answer, and he was pleased to find that it was Gwen who did. He gave in to the quick hug with little struggle (okay no struggle) and laughed when he saw the gun as she was pulling away. "You just couldn't give up that thing, could you?" he asked teasingly, knowing full well he wouldn't know what to do if he didn't have at least two guns on him at any given moment.
He followed her inside and immediately went over to the baby, grinning as he stooped down to the level she was at, offering his large hand for her little fingers to grasp at. He almost hadn't heard the question, too wrapped up in coos and giggles, but after a moment he looked up at Gwen, standing to his full height again.
"You already know I won't stay, Gwen," he told her. "But I'll stay long enough for tea, if you'll have me," he bargained, the smile returning to his face. "Well, I know you'll have me. But if Rhys will." he elaborated.
He turned to the baby again, unsure how to tell her what he'd only recently found out himself. He decided just coming out with it was best and, without turning to face her, he licked his lips, speaking softly. "Ianto survived, Gwen. He's still here in Cardiff."
{ooc; Sorry this took ages! I hope you like it alright! <3}
