'Fearless leader.'
"I got you." The Doctor smiled brightly, taking the compliment when given it, tightening his hold on her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze, for himself as well as her. He saw the end of the corridor blocked off with tables and tied together with roots and vines. "Its helping us by giving us enough memory to remember that there is something here, that they're here, every time we look at them we remember something little because the more scared you are the faster your brain works-wibbly wobbly stuff this, come on!"
He rushed for the barrier, pulling out his screwdriver and scanning it for weaknesses. "Hopefully, they're still in there," he said grimly, eyes looking pained as he considered otherwise, managing to find a way for them to get over and he helped Sally over before climbing over, landing on his feet before staying there squatted a little, listening before his eyes landed on a trapdoor not far off, a table being hastily pushed over it. Moving the table away, the Doctor used his sonic until he heard a click and then he gave it a tug, pulling it open and looking down---to a lot of guns pointed in his face.
"Oh hello!" he exclaimed, smiling, pleased to find some of them alive, still. "There is some of you alive," he looked pleased. "You probably don't know me, but I'm the Doctor, I've been here before..." he told them and the guns remained on them, he took another breath. "I'm here to help, I know-sort of, I don't really know but I do-of what you're going through..."he babbled. Running a hand quickly through his hair, he pressed his lips together and looked around.
"No? Well the longer you let us sit here the more risk you-" he was interrupted as they apparently agreed and yanked them both down through the hatch, slamming and locking it behind them, everyone turning to look around, making sure none were inside. "No need to be rude," he scowled from the floor, dusting off his pants a little, turning to check if Sally was okay.
"Are you okay?" he asked her, hand touching at hers, trying to remind her to stay as calm as possible.

There were definitely worse people that Sally could be in this situation with...like Larry Nightingale for instance. She didn't know why she was thinking of him, maybe as a sort of I-knew-I-would-succeed-whether-you-thought-I-could-or-not, thought. Still, he was the type of person who would never, ever, in a million years think of taking charge, in fact in this situation, he would be expecting Sally to come up with a solution. As if she had ever dealt with something like that.
Luckily for her, not only was he not here, she was instead with someone who knew what he was about. And seemed to have experience with leadership--at least he stepped into those shoes perfectly. Without really thinking about it, Sally grabbed the Doctor into a half-hug, "I know this isn't quite the time, since we're being pursued and all, but I'm really glad you're here."
Almost as quick as it had happened, Sally let go and resumed the running. Suddenly the marks made more sense, or maybe it was just that the Doctor spelling them out made it feel more important. Plus, like he said, without constantly looking down and noting them, she might completely forget what they were running from.
Abruptly there were guns pointed at the Doctor. Not so much at her, but Sally could still still feel her heart jumping into her throat and her hazel eyes widening in surprise and fear. There were plenty more emotions running through her, those were just the main ones. Still, with the Doctor's hand in hers, she could feel his pulse, and it never wavered. How very reassuring he was, calming her down without even saying anything.
Of course, Sally was no wilting flower, she would master her emotions. And she would be worthy of this adventure. So there. Shoving her negative emotions down, she did her best to radiate calm and collected--she wouldn't let the Doctor down, especially in a circumstance like this. By the time the Doctor asked if she was fine, Sally was able to nod and even smile as she responded, "Of course I am, don't worry about me..." concentrate on them. The last part was left unsaid, but she meant the race of people surrounding them. The ones so recently being attacked.
Following her response, Sally found that she was finally able to really take a look at the people who were surrounding them. They were bi-pedal and were covered in scales...rather like humans crossed with lizards. And they were beautiful. Strange, but still wonderful to look at. "How wonderful," She murmured, looking over them. From their green skin, to their ear holes--to think they were living below the earth, had been since before even humans were around, it was amazing.
Without realizing it, Sally found her hands caressing her camera. If only she could capture a picture, to remember this moment. And that was the real reason she always carried her camera with her, for fear her memory would fail her and she would forget everything she had seen. At least a camera kept the memory fresh. I doubt they would allow photos, she thought wryly, they probably would think I was using it for evil or something. Too bad.

{ooc; hope you don't mind, sally, i changed the date of our other thread to 2011 instead of 2013, didn't want another paradox after all ;]}
It hadn't been long since Jack had found himself in a similar situation with the Silurian. He'd ended up at some old church while playing vortex manipulator roulette and it had seemed boring, so he was about to go when he'd felt an earthquake. Only, he'd felt plenty of earthquakes and it hadn't felt quite right. He'd gone to explore and had found the same crack that Sally and The Doctor would later find.
How was he meant to resist? He'd gone right down into the opening, half expecting to die, but he made it to the bottom relatively in tact and stood, brushing himself off and going to explore. He wasn't easily scared but he was getting chills, the hairs standing up on the back of his neck. It wasn't enough to stop him, though, and he had carried on. He'd learned well from The Doctor and had spotted the trap door as well.
He'd been met with guns and had charmed his way inside. Or maybe they were so afraid of something that they just hadn't wanted to bother with listening to him babble on. He wouldn't have blamed them. He'd seen the ruins of the city.
They didn't talk to him much, in fact he was made to sit aside while they talked in hushed voices. It was hard to make out what they were saying, but he'd caught onto one thing. There was something out there. He'd suspected that, but he hadn't been sure, nor had he seen anything odd. He had just felt it, but now he was sure. And fleeing was not an option. Whatever this was, they needed help and he'd learned from The Doctor not to run.
It was a few hours since he'd been there when he heard the hatch opening again and heard voices. They were still hushed, but there was something familiar about at least one of them and after a moment it clicked.
Speak of the devil. Guns were pointed at him as he stood and purposely made his way to where he'd heard the voices. No one shot, it would have brought their presence to the attention of whatever they were hiding from, but even if they had shot, it wouldn't have stopped him. He did stop, however, when he saw The Doctor standing there.
"Well, well... look what the cat dragged in," he said fondly, keeping his voice low because he didn't want to attract unwanted attention anymore than they did, and he went over, giving the man a tight hug. It was relieving to see a familiar face when he had very little clue of what was going on and he looked down at the marks on his arms with an amused look. "I hope these aren't permanent. I always thought you'd get something a little more classy if you ever got a tattoo," he joked.
He looked over at the girl, wondering if he'd gotten a new companion and his eyes-and grin-widened when he saw who it was. "Sally Sparrow, oh, look at you," he said, giving her a hug as well before his expression went serious. "Doctor, there's something out there. I'm not sure what it is, but something isn't right. I'm so glad to see you because I'm in way over my head here. Not only that but it seems I'm not trusted here either," he said, glancing at a few of the Silurian.

Looking over at Sally and grinning at her 'how wonderful' comment, the Doctor looked down at her hands to remember her camera and was glad they hadn't noticed it, before he noticing Jack the Doctor had stood and helped her up with him, leaning in to whisper in her ear. "Don't draw their attention to your camera, we could use it later," he told her, grabbing her hand and giving it a squeeze only to let go in fright as he literally jumped at Jack's voice before he was swept up into Jack's arms, like girl. Typical, Jack-oh but that did feel nice. When Jack pulled away and made a comment about the marks on his arms the smile on his face faltered, his mouth opening to say something before Jack gave Sally a hug as well and the Doctor realized that they knew each other, but there was no time for that!
He was extremely surprised to find Jack there, the Doctor hadn't seen him in a bit, but he had to admit he was almost relieved to see him, he always did need new people to bounce his ideas off of. "Yes, I was just about to tell you... it about these marks," he motioned to the marks on both of their arms before turning to the Silurians staring at them.
"Hullo! Sorry about that. Bet you're wondering what I'm doing here, right?" he grinned widely. "Military, never did like the military, whose in charge?" he asked looking over them with pursed lips and a wrinkled up brow.
"I am," a woman in armor stepped forward, her eyes hard as she glared at him, trying to scare him but the Doctor just smiled.
"And your name is?" he squinted at her through his hair.
"Mylaya, I was second in command, but first command wasn't fast enough," she told him, lifting her chin proudly and the Doctor just smiled more, this time a lot sadder.
"Well, Mylaya as I was about to tell my friend Jack, here," he pointed over at Jack, throwing his sonic to his other hand and catching it. "And this is Sally Sparrow, just in case you're wondering... But, the most important thing I have to say right now is, you're in a whole lot of trouble and the only way you're getting out of this is with my help so do me a favor and put your weapons down, there's nothing to shoot in here and we definitely don't want to be going out there!"
But their weapons only sat higher as every eye in the room was on the sonic in his hand and he glanced at it, moving it from side to side and watching them. Oh, this was clever and he lifted it up, watching them all look up and then he dropped it down and grinned over his shoulder. "Will you look at th-right, rude?" he asked them and then made a face and looked at the Silurians again.
"Sorry, screw driver, sonic, opens doors and locks and is very good at not working sometimes..."
He slipped it back into his pockets and held his hands out in front of him in a peaceful manner. "I'm not here to harm you or your city, I'm here to help," he promised.
"Why should we believe you? You brought weapons-"
"What? No I didn't," the Doctor exclaimed, stepping forward and sighing when he saw the guns in their hands, turning to look at Jack. "See, this is why I don't carry weapons."

Sally had still been toying with the idea of snapping a photo of their captors when the Doctor had leaned close and whispered about the camera coming in handy. Sally didn't quite know how a simple camera could get them out of the current bind they were in, but if the Doctor seemed to think that her lone camera could be off help, then she was going to do whatever she could and give them the best advantage. Quickly tucking her camera into her green coat, she smiled a bright smile at the Doctor, like he'd just told her a fabulous joke and nodded her head. All set.
Now she was simply going to have a sit and wait...wait for the Doctor to be witty and change their roles from captives to helpers. Just looking down at those dashes on her arms and she knew that they had no choice but to help. How could you abandon anyone to a fate like this, whatever fate that was, Sally thought, especially if you have the power to help...like the Doctor.
Abruptly Sally's train of thought was interrupted by a figure sprinting over to their little corner of the room. He was tall and dressed in dark colors with a very, very familiar face. A face that didn't quite click until he looked at her full-on. "Captain Jack Harkness," Sally mumbled right before he whisked her into a quick hug. Well didn't it just feel like a strange reunion? A good one, of course, but mostly strange and unexpected. The best kinds in Sally's opinion.
But the time for shock was passed, Sally knew this to be the case, now was the time for being serious.
Crossing her arms in front of her chest in a serious stance, Sally settled back to observe the behaviors of all the Silurians in the room, making mental notes all the while. As the one in command, Mylaya, stepped forward to converse with the Doctor, her hazel eyes immediately locked onto her shape, almost like a homing missile--searching for both proof and hope that this one wouldn't be adverse to whatever the Doctor was going to say.
At her name being mentioned, Sally nodded at the commander with what she hoped was a respectful look before studying the floorboards. Somehow it felt like this wasn't her place to get involved--she didn't know anything about this race and didn't even have an idea of how to go about combating an enemy that you couldn't even remember.
Wait, Sally thought, I can't remember...but my camera might be able to remember. For some reason it didn't seem too far fetched to believe that she might have snapped a quick photo when confronting these mysterious beings. Of course, like the marks that appeared without her making them, or remembering to, she probably didn't even remember taking a photo.
Backing away from the main group, into a corner of the room where she would be less likely to be noticed, Sally pulled her camera out of her breast pocket. For once grateful that her camera was both film and digital because it had a small viewing screen. Bringing up her pictures, Sally couldn't hold in a gasp. What was looking out at her from her camera was like something out of a nightmare.
It was humanoid and dressed in a suit...but that was where any similarity to humans ended. It had an overlarge head, no mouth and massive, horrifying eyes. She found she couldn't look away.
ooc;; Well, that was all over the place. Apologies.

"Oh, I always carry weapons," Jack said as though it were not big deal. Because it wasn't. "And anyway, I handed them over willingly, didn't I?" he asked pointedly. He wouldn't mention the one they hadn't found. If something happened, there was no way he'd be caught unarmed. He would go down if he needed to, but he was damn well taking someone down with him if they intended anyone harm.
"They should not have been brought in the first place," Mylaya argued, a stubborn tilt to her chin.
"Surely someone in the military can understand. I won't be found without a weapon if ever I need one," he told her honestly. "Doesn't mean I intend to harm anyone."
For a moment, Mylaya didn't respond, but there was a sort of flicker in her eyes and Jack could tell that she was starting to give in, no matter how much she didn't want to. They had been attacked and needed help, and Jack was offering it, and The Doctor even seemed to know something about the race that had attacked. But Mylaya... she couldn't remember anything. She knew many of her people were killed by the hands of something, but did not know what. How was she supposed to fight something she didn't even know?
She needed help.
And that was why what Jack said next was all it took for her to give in. "We're here to help," he told her and she hesitated only a moment longer before nodding.
"Alright, but none of you are to have weapons," she said.
Oh, that didn't please Jack too much, but he nodded shortly, not intending to argue when there was a serious threat on their hands. He his attention to The Doctor, not seeming to get that fact that he was not in charge. It was in his nature to immediately take charge, he'd done it even with The Doctor on countless occasions, though it was clear which of them knew more about what went on.
"So, Doctor, you obviously know more about these creatures than we do. So what are we up against? And why the marks? You've done a lot of weird things, Doctor, but I just don't get this one."

The Doctor made a face when Jack made light of the whole gun issue, he knew best that the Doctor didn't like weapons. Not that it mattered, people kept telling him he didn't need weapons because he was the biggest weapon of all, and that he made the people around him into weapons instead. It sat rather heavy on his shoulders and he gave Jack a very disapproving look.
"I suppose we do too..." Mylaya admitted, not looking particularly happy about all this but she nodded any way.
Jack hadn't noticed Sally slipping away from them, but the Doctor did and he glanced at her worriedly. So when she gasped, he moved away from the group without warning heading over and looking at her face. "Sally?" No response, her eyes were fixed hard on her camera, the light glowing on her face. She looked scared.
"Sally?" he repeated and moved behind, looking over his shoulders, eyes widening but not by much as he saw. He remembered instantly everything he ever knew about them. "The Silence, they've been all around us for longer than we realized, living below the ground, waiting and using their powers to suggestively turn people in the direction that suited them, controlling the world one thought at a time, one suggestion at time... there's thousands of them. I thought I dealt with them. I put an image on the moon landing... of them telling the humans to kill them on sight... I had no choice, they were trying to take over and not caring who died in the process.. wanted to kill us all.." the last bit came out as a whisper and he ran a hand over his face. He had to think about this while he was looking at it. "Keep looking and listen. When you look away I want you to turn your camera off and give it to Jack. Then I want you to return to my side, you wont remember doing it or why you did it. But, everything's going to be alright, Sally. I'll get you out of this, okay?" his voice had dropped, soothing and quiet then he clicked his fingers loudly and attracted her attention away from the camera, planting the order in her head and knowing she would do it, not stopping to check if she was doing as he had suggested but turning and facing the group of Silurians, forgetting already what he'd told Sally to do, but it was buried in there somewhere because he swaggered towards the group with a new confidence.
"Right, where were we, yes, Jack. The marks on my hands and arms and on Sally's. They're to remind us what we're up against. I'm pretty sure-"
"Pretty sure? We don't have enough time for guesses, Doctor," Mylaya gritted out, already annoyed with this whimsical twat.
"-With me, pretty sure is pretty darned good okay, sometimes i don't have any plan at all and once I didn't know what to do at all!" he stormed, voice raising a little, everyone going silent. He took a deep breath and put his hands on his hips. "Look, well you can't look, because you can see them all... all of you find something to mark yourselves with... please no knives or I'll start yelling and then we're in trouble!"
One of the younger Silurians over in the corner giggled and the Doctor just grinned, feeling jolly proud of himself for a second before he got serious again. Rocking on his heels a little, the Doctor tugged at his suspender, letting it snap and then taking a breath as he started remembering things, his brain working a lot faster than any humans would. "Jack, bring Sally's camera here. Sally, it's okay, you gave it to Jack, you don't remember doing it because you were looking at the picture when I told you to do it... Jack, bring it here... Mylaya, I would like to show you something, but you're not going to remember seeing it once you look away...."
"Doctor? Don't be crazy, why would I forget my enemy if I saw it?" Mylaya laughed, looking rather breathtaking while she did it, the Doctor admiring her for a moment before rubbing a hand over his face, holding out his hand for the camera.
"Trust me, I'm the Doctor, I know..."he said giving her a look that was honest and determined.

ooc;; I don't know much about how Sally would execute the directions of the Doctor without remembering any of it...so this might now be quite right. I'm just sort of interpreting it. Please don't mind too much!!
bic;; Sally felt like she had returned from a long distance when she heard the doctor snap his fingers. It wasn't as if she had been away, it was more like she had been day-dreaming. Although, what about was anyone's guess. And why was she just standing in place, stiff like a board, away from all the action? The Doctor might just need her!
Well, maybe not with Jack here, Sally thought, remembering how Jack had saved her in the past himself. Surely he can be of more use here than I. With her gaze flicking back to the camera she realized it was on and hastily turned it off, it was wasting the battery by being on. She usually wasn't so reckless where her beloved camera was concerned, she really must be spacing out, that was the only answer.
As Sally turned her camera off, a new thought blossomed in her mind--almost as if it had been planted there. She didn't usually just start wanting to show off her photography, generally it was kept secret since it was amateur and special, but suddenly Sally had an almost overpowering need to show Jack her camera.
Why am I doing this, the hazy thought drifted across her mind as she was already starting across the room in an almost zombie shuffle, this doesn't feel much like me at all. Maybe I'm getting sick...
Stopping abruptly, about a pace from Jack, Sally smiled and extended her camera to him as if it were the most natural thing in the world, "There's just something you have to see on here," She said quietly, pressing the camera into his palm, "I just know you'll like it." The truth was, she wasn't quite sure at all that he would like it, let alone what it was.
Too late now.
Now that her task was seemingly completed, Sally felt like she was back in control--completely. The last couple of minutes were very confusing if she thought about them, but why would she want to do that? Right now she just wanted to be of help. Some form of it. Taking a few steps closer to the Doctor, Sally made sure to stay out of range of his grandiose hand gestures. It just wouldn't do to be smacked in the face by an accidental palm.
Eagerly she waited for some order to come to her, so far it had been all Jack and Mylaya, but she knew eventually she'd be of help. Better to be close at hand when that time arrived.

Jack took the camera when Sally handed it to him, not sparing a moment before turning it on, finding his way to the photos and flipping through them. He recognized the old church, but didn't linger on them, flipping through until his hands seemed to freeze, a photo lingering on the lens that caught his eye. Oh, he'd seen worse aliens, but he didn't understand how it was these that were able to wipe out so many of the Silurians?
"Doctor, you really need to see this, it-" he stopped, his eyes having moved from the screen to look up at The Doctor. "What are you all staring for? Come and look through these photos with me, there could be something we could use," he told them, any trace of fear that might have been in his voice disappearing now that he wasn't looking at the screen.
He looked down at the camera again, hands moving to turn it on until his eyes landed on the picture, the memory flooding back. "Doctor, I had just been looking. Why couldn't I remember when I only looked away for a second?" he asked. If the fear hadn't been present in his voice before, it definitely was now and he swallowed heavily, trying to keep his eyes on the photo as he took quick strides in the direction he knew The Doctor and Mylaya to be.
"How dare you!" Mylaya snarled. "Whatever this is had wiped out my people! This is nothing to joke about! How can you forget something you've only just seen?!
She was furious and snatched the camera out of his hands, too impatient to wait any longer and Jack heard her gasp as she looked at the camera in her hands. He tried to get closer in an attempt to see the photo, not remembering that he'd ever looked at it. In fact, he didn't even remember how Mylaya had gotten the camera.
"What? What is it?" he asked.
"I've told you once I will NOT have you making a mockery-!" She stopped suddenly, her voice trailing off as she completed her sentence. "-of my people..."
Why had she said that...?
"Doctor... what in the hell is going on?" Jack asked, not remembering but knowing that something was very, very off.

Sensing Sally near him, the Doctor glanced at her, searching her face for a moment to make sure she wasn't too scared before his eyes focused back on the scene slowly unfolding in front of him, and if he hadn't of known just how serious their situation was, he would of laughed at him. But, considering that he couldn't even QUITE remember what they were talking about--He could from past conversations, very vaguely remember, but not enough to be a huge help right now.
Walking over to Jack and Mylaya, the Doctor looked curiously over their shoulders, remembering all of a sudden. "They're called the Silence. They.. wipe your mind automatically after you come in anyway in contact with them. Once you look away from them or their image you forget and when I finish telling you all this you'll soon forget what I said, it works with even information which is why I couldn't tell you what you wanted, right away, at least. They're all over Earth, well," he shifted on his feet and looked a little guilty. "They were. I'm guessing the fact that I got the humans to kill them--which reminds me Sally, how come YOU haven't made any attempts to kill them, did you watch the moon landing?"
Mylaya still looked confused and she looked at the picture again, scratching at her head in confusion. "But, Doctor, by the bloods, what are we to do? How can we defeat something we can't remember?!!"
"By killing them the moment we see them," a gruff voice come and a big Silurian stepped forward.
Everyone looked up.
"Kill what?"
It was a chorus of voices and the Doctor looked around, realizing everyone had forgotten already... Too fast. Not only the people that were looking at the photo stored on Sally's camera, but everyone and he turned around quickly, twisting his body around. "Give me that!" he told them and grabbed the camera, fumbling with it as he tried to figure out how it worked, when he finally figured it out he started to snap pictures, turning in a circle, around and around taking photos before he stopped and started to look at them, his face paling a little.
How was that even possible? Why hadn't they killed the ones in here? Keeping his eyes on the pictures he pointed to the trapdoor. "I would suggest an exit through there would be very appropriate. Trust me," he told them.
"What is wrong? Doctor, I think this is very inappropriate, if we go out there, we'll die by unknown hands!!" Mylaya argued.

Sally wasn't as fearful as she had been just a little while ago, maybe it was that she was feeling emboldened by the Doctor's words, or maybe it was that she was still pondering her confusing actions of moments before, but it was probably more likely that she had simply used up her store of fear within these last few minutes and had nothing more to get. She was actually excited a bit at the prospect, because it might just mean that she would regain her level head and actually be able to supply some help in this circumstance.
Sally found that not looking at the camera afforded a lot of help in this situation. Since she wasn't looking at these Silence creatures she was able to remember everything that the Doctor was saying and able to commit it to memory. It was helping her learn more about them and not forget the instant she looked away.
As the Doctor asked about the moon landing, Sally couldn't help but be faintly embarrassed, it was one of the biggest events to occur in history! "No, I've never seen the whole thing, just bits and pieces, I'm afraid," She said with a small shake of her head, "Why? This this vital?" She asked, feeling rather confused as well.
When the big Silurian stepped forward, obviously sharing Sally's good fortune of not looking at the camera and everyone acted like he was crazy, she couldn't resist letting out--in a loud tone, "The Silence, you dummies! The ones the Doctor was just talking about..." She trailed off as she realized that it really wasn't their fault. Looking away from the camera had seemingly reset their memories. Luckily she had said their name, maybe that would trigger a memory or two.
She felt a moment of small panic as she watched the Doctor fumbling with her camera, it was her baby after all, but in the grand scheme of things, her life was just a bit more important than a camera. Watching his reaction, Sally wasted no time in gathering up her stuff, and most especially her pens, "I think we're surrounded in this room, is what he's getting at...so, instead of being killed where we stand, how about we get out of here?!" Her first words of reason since this whole adventure had started.

Jack didn't have to look at the images The Doctor had taken to know that they were in danger. He didn't even have to know what they were up against. All he needed to know was that something wasn't right and what to do to help. Which was good because he couldn't remember a thing about what was so dangerous, only that they had killed off a large amount of Silurians.
But as Sally spoke, he had the feeling she was right and gave one nod before grabbing his guns off the Silurians and tucking a couple of them at his hips. He paused, looking at The Doctor, debating on whether or not to even try and get a gun in that man's hands, but decided it was more trouble than it was worth and moved on, scanning the room for anyone else in need of weapons, only to find some pointed at him.
"Oh, good grief, are you kidding me?!" he cried. "Even if I did want to kill you, do you really think I'd waste bullets on you when there's something after us that can kill off most of a race without the survivors having any memory of who did it?" What could they do to him, really? If they shot him, he would only come back to life and all they'd be doing then was wasting everyone's time. So he ignored them, carrying on. "Look, they're right. I trust this man with my life and if he says we need to get out of here, than we need to get out of here. I need a pen."
He'd pieced it together by now, what the marks on Sally and The Doctor's arms meant, and pulled the lid of the pen, holding it in his hand as he looked around the room, into all the dark corners. He seemed to blank out for a moment, getting totally caught up in what he was looking for, before he suddenly looked at the people standing around him, watching him. And then he looked down at his arms. At least fifteen or twenty marks covered his arms and he felt his breathing grow heavier. He was scared, though he wouldn't admit it. He hated not being able to remember what he was up against.
"We need to get out of here," he said again, this time more urgently, and he tucked the pen into his shirt pocket before turning to Sally suddenly.
He held out the smallest gun he had. He didn't want her to have to use this gun. In fact, he didn't want to see her in any danger at all. But she was and he wanted her to be able to defend herself if it came down to it. The Doctor... he could handle himself, but Sally, though strong and very intelligent, was new to all of this.
"Tell me you know how to use one of these," he told her seriously. "And tell me you're not as stubborn as him," he added, nodding his head toward The Doctor.
