The cold, still air in the Council Room was heavy with anticipation. Around the table, the High Council sat, stiff-backed in their heavy, formal robes and collars. Most waited in silence, their eyes on the emtpy chair of the Lady President at the head of the table, but a few couldn't help the occasional glance they sent out of the corner of their eyes at the figure who stood nearby beside the door.
Flanked by two Chancellory guards, both with stasars trained on his head, the recently-resurrected Master stood idly, an expression of undisguised boredom across his face. He had already discovered that this new body came with a quick temper and very little patience - and a slight lisp, but he was working on that. He also seemed to have found himself with rather a penchant for guns, and considering the situation he had been resurrected into, he more than suspected that his essence had been tampered with when the Time Lords extracted it from the Eye of Harmony. He wondered if they might have overdone it a little actually - the two guards had removed eleven assorted guns from his person before escorting him into the Council Room.
Whatever tendencies they had given him, though, they hadn't probled that deeply into his psyche. He could still feel the remnants of the Cheetah Planet virus stirring in his consciousness every now and then; and deeper still, that drumbeat that had tapped away in his head for as long as he could remember now beat louder than ever, to the point where he could no longer ignore it.
The Lady President Romanadvoratrelundar... he mused, eyeing the empty chair. He had never met her in person, but he gathered she had travelled with the Doctor for a time. Of course, she would have heard all about him. And from what information had come his way so far, her days as President could well be numbered...he knew whose resurrection was following his own...
His sharp eyes flickered to the side and one of the guards immediately tensed. They were clearly aware of his reputation, and their nerves must have been like guitar strings, they were so on edge in his presence. Lazily, he raised one hand to his mouth and yawned openly, watching them out of his peripheral vision as they jumped and tightened their fingers against the triggers of their stasars at the unexpected movement.
OOC: Aaand there it is, my go at starting this Time War thread. Romana, no idea if you're going to want a take on it as well before we all get started!
Original version of the Master, wheee! ^_^ Young-looking; dark hair and eyes; 'bout 5 foot 7; small moustache, goatee and sideburns; dressed in black Time Lord robes.
And poor fellow, he has no idea he's supposed to be working with Akira! Actually, he's only been alive less than a day - doesn't have a clue about the Cybermen either, yet.

Murmuring filled the council hall and a few idle whispers stated, "It's not like the president to be late...."
Apparently they did not know Romana as well as they had thought. Romana had refused to come at first, and so she was taking her time. She had been unprecedentedly overruled in the decision in bring back the Master by the council of Time Lords and frankly the decision did not sit well with her. She wondered what other treasonous thoughts lay deep in the skulls of the council. If they were so blatant in going over her head, she wondered what was next. It could not bode well for her future for the council of Time Lords to go over their elected head. Such a decision placed her on dangerous ground. A thousand visions of being overthrown or assassinated rumbled through her mind.
The chancellery guard began to wonder if the Lady President of the Time Lords was ever going to show up at all. Some of the Time Lord Council started talking of starting the proceedings without her. But at that moment, Romana finally appeared looking quite sullen and well angry. Normally, Romana's personality was quite chipper and outgoing but at this moment in time, she was not in a good mood. She plopped herself into her seat, like a undignified Time Tot. Causing a lot of muttering of how Un-Gallifreyan the President was acting. She really did not want to be here and so the only true weapon the President had at this moment in time was simple civil disobedience. She was making it known that she did not approve and did not want to be here. She coughed a bit, clearing her voice and then looking at the council firmly. "Honorable council of Gallifrey, what is your decision to do with this....." She paused a bit, This traitor and enemy of Gallifrey. I should remind you that this is the very man who attempted and nearly was successful in a plot to destroy all of us and this planet for his own selfish reasons. Nor should I remind you that he also assassinated one of our past Time Lord Presidents. To even allow this traitor in our council chamber is...."
"Desperate times call for desperate measures.....and we need a man who is as ruthless as our enemies," A councilor chimed in.

Akira was very restless. He wanted to be out and vanquishing their enemies. His guns were pretty much begging to be used in battle. To kill a few Cybermen, Daleks or anything evil he could find. He was having no luck in finding information either as to where he could help. "Where is everyone?" he muttered to himself. He had hardly seen anyone in the corridors. Only the distant sounds from out side and random people behind doors.
Making his way around again he focused on listening to the voices behind the doors. There was nothing of interest to him. But something did catch his ears as he walked past one of the main council halls. The Time Lord council members could be heard from the other side. Murmurs and whispers. Then he heard the voice of Lady President Romana speak. Traitor? The Master was in there? he thought to himself. "This has to be good." he muttered under his breath to himself.
He never liked the Master all that much so there's always something good going on if he was involved and he was getting in trouble. He pressed his ear against the door gently and careful not to lean to much and give himself away. He couldn't think of what the council would do to him if they caught him eavesdropping. He shuttered at the thought and pushed it to the back of his mind.
[ooc: I know it's a bit short. I couldn't think of what else to put. Hope it's alright and you can work with it. If you want me to change or add to it, just ask and I will :3 ]

"Traitor?" The Master smiled slowly, a dangerous glint entering his black eyes. "Perhaps you aren't all as stupid as I thought, then - you know your 'ultimate warrior' would just as soon hand you over to the Daleks as defend you. Desperate, indeed," he snorted derisively, sending a condescending look at the councillor who had spoken up.
Ultimate warrior... Those had been the first words he had heard as he had awoken from the sleep of death in the small hours of that very morning, and it was as though they had been etched into him, replaying in his mind, at times almost as insistent as the drums. Even if the Council had resurrected him purely for their own purposes, it was some gratification to know that they at least recognized him for what he was: the pinnacle of everything a Time Lord could be.
Not like the guards who stood either side of him. Either they were too focused on making sure he didn't pull a weapon from his sleeve to hear the approach of soft footsteps that had come to stop at the door at his back; or their telepathic senses were not as refined as his own - of course, he knew that his extra-sensory perception surpassed that of most Time Lords - and they had not sensed the presence of a Time Lord mind lingering just outside.
"Clearly, you have more pressing concerns than security these days," he said. "Such as the microexplosive nanopistol in my left boot. Or the eavesdropper on the other side of this door." While both guards hastily cocked their weapons and pressed them to his temples, he raised his arms in a mock gesture of surrender and turned his gaze back to Romana. There was no light in his eyes now - they were cold, his voice dripping with icy menace. "So what do you want me for?"

Romana looked even more annoyed at the audacity of this man, "Frankly the idea is all of the councilors idea....not mine. I never asked for you to be fished out of the Eye of Harmony to begin with. In my book....." Romana glared firmly at all assembled in the room, "I'd just as soon as condemn you all for your going over my head. "
She glared at the assembled, "You want a warrior....you handle him. Since apparently you have no need for a President to guide you in these difficult times. You want to send him to the front go ahead. But...."
Romana got up out of her seat and began to walk to the doors of the council chamber and opened them and calmly looked at the young Time Lord at the door. He seemed almost frightened and shocked to have the Lady President of the Time Lords open the door, "I have been expecting you, Time Lord. You seem interested in the affairs of war, I suppose. I have seen your coming. I have been overruled by the council in this matter. They have apparently have lost their heads. What do you think, Time Lord? Do you think the council have done the right thing in bring out this poisonous creature from the depths? Tell me honestly for I need an honest voice in the midst of this chamber, rather than the voices of self styled bureaucrats."

Akira held his breath as he listened to their conversation behind the closed door. He was curious as to what the Master meant by 'ultimate warrior'. He put that aside and listened more closely. Some shuffling around could be heard and shifting of feet. Then what Akira heard next was almost a shock to him. He had known he was there. Of course, leave it to the Master to know where he was all the time if close by. He cursed silently in his head at himself.
Backing away slowly he was too slow. For that moment the doors opened and there stood Lady President. Akira made a small bow to show his respects. He straightened up looking at her eyes. "I wasn't aware that I was to be expected, Lady President." he paused for a moment. "I have no rights to question the decisions of the Council. How ever, in my opinion, I am not found of the Master. Though there are probably good reasons for bringing the Master from the depths he came from. And whatever it is that is going to be put against him, I probably wont really care to be honest." he stood up straight to his full height. He really didn't like the Master. Even when he was younger.
"And it's the Vanquisher. If it pleases, Lady President, Council members." he gave a small bow again and waited.

"...send him to the front..."? Startled, the Master's eyes widened. He hadn't yet been alive long enough to really grasp the situation, only that the Time Lords were at war and it involved the Daleks - but whatever the scale of the conflict, the prospect of being sent out to the front lines was not one he relished. However, he quickly regained his composure and turned his head to follow Romana as she crossed the room to open the door behind him, hands still raised. One of the guards was still holding his stasar against the Master's head, the other was now on his knees and fumbling to carefully extract the nanopistol from his boot, but the renegade could still see just enough of the eavesdropper when the door was opened to know that he didn't know him. Clearly, though, the "Vanquisher", as he introduced himself, knew something of Gallifrey's public enemies.
"If I didn't know better, I'd say you weren't pleased to see me," he taunted the Time Lords present. Abruptly, he raised his voice to carry an unmistakeable tone of authority, his next words laced with just a touch of hypnotic command. "Romana, you will send the Vanquisher to the front line in my place. My intellect would be better put to use elsewhere."

Romana smiled softly at "The Vanquisher", "I have my ways of knowing..." Romana had seen the young man through the Matrix., and had expected his arrival, before he had even realized it himself.
Romana looked disgusted at the answer the man had made and she shook her head,"I gave you permission to speak freely. Therefore you have every right to speak because I desire another opinion to be heard. " She shook her head, "You disappoint me. I have read your record, Akira Kira Rio. You don't strike me as one who would defer to the council or to anyone. Maybe I was wrong."
Romana sighed and shook her head disdainfully and made her way back to her seat, only to have the Master interject, "Romana, you will send the Vanquisher to the front line in my place. My intellect would be better put to use elsewhere."
Romana laughed suddenly, the Master's hypnotic suggestion brushed aside, she had a feeling the Master would attempt something, so she wore the cornet of Rassilon. If she had really wanted to she could have made the Master grovel before her, and yet such a thing was not in her nature, but the Cornet gave her some mental control as well as her own strong willed nature, "You have no say where you will or will not go, Master. One thing is for certain, you're not staying here on Gallifrey not as long as I am President. If I could I'd put you back into the Eye of Harmony. But since I've been overruled, I have little to no choice to accept the wishes of the Council. They say you're going to the front lines you're going to the front lines. But..... and as I was going to say. I do not intend to send you alone. You only get into mischief when you're alone. Since I am backed into a situation I find distasteful with little option but to bend my neck in certain angles. You and Akira will be going together. Akira....." Romana reached into her pocket and pulled out a communication device, "You will report to me and only to me on your progress. If the Master doesn't do what he is assigned to do, you have my authority.....to kill him and rid him of the rest of his lives. Whatever you deem necessary to insure his cooperation."
