"Precious time?" Jack questioned with a bit of a laugh. He had all the time in the world... and probably a few other planets as well. "Don't worry, you take all the time you need," he assured her, knowing their time would only be limited by the closing time of the shops. That could mean a full day of shopping and Jack knew he might regret it later, but he wanted Sally to have her fun.
So of course he was surprised when the first dress she picked up was the one she seemed to want to buy. He took a look at the dress and nodded, very impressed with what she'd chosen. It was a little flashy and might get the town talking, but it wasn't enough that they'd think her a celebrity or a royal. Perfect.
"You'll look lovely in it," he told her confidently. "Guess we're ready than? I thought it might take all day," he admitted, leading the way to the counter and letting the woman ring up their purchases. "Why don't you go and get changed while I pay?" he suggested, pulling out some money from his billfold and giving it to the lady behind the counter as she gave him the total.
When everything was said and done, Jack led the way out of the boutique. "Anything else you need or want? Shoes? Accessories? It is your chance to get things straight out of the 1960's," he told her, chuckling a little. "Literally. Anyway, we've got a bit before the moon landing airs. Might as well find something to do with our time."
They didn't get much further down the road, though, before Jack heard dance hall music, the sound becoming louder as a door opened just ahead, a young couple coming through it arm in arm, the biggest smiles on their faces. God, it had been a while since he'd been to a proper dance, the last time being when he'd met the man he stole his name from, Captain Jack Harkness, when he and Tosh had gotten pulled back into the forties.
"Sally, do you like to dance?" he asked suddenly.
