Here we go! Rumour mill for a canon character!
Sooo...the Master's got a lot of different angles on his past, everyone seems to take different things as canon for him. He needs a rumour mill...
...and I can neither confirm nor deny!
Go on, add to it - everyone knows this character! Truth stranger than fiction, grains of truth in a package of lies, half-truths...or just complete nonsense.
Earth - rumours about Harold Saxon:
"They said he went mad - just completely snapped, just like that..."
"That whole alien contact thing, the Toclafane? We got told it was a hoax, right...but I've heard that it was all true, every word. That Saxon bloke was on to something."
"That's why he was shot - he knew too much."
"Shot? Nah - they can fake anything on TV nowadays. You mark my words - the FBI wanted him. He's still alive - he's working for the US government in Area 51."
Across the Universe:
"They say the Universe was once a lot bigger than it is now. And then thousands of worlds, whole solar systems, were wiped out of existence in the blink of an eye. Entropy took them - Traken, Logopolis - all gone. But it was all the Master's fault - he sabotaged the balance of existence itself."
"I heard he accidentally wiped out several solar systems by making a mistake in a maths calculation."
"He's not really a Time Lord - he's the last surviving Trakenite, and his name is really Tremas. He pretends to be a Time Lord so he doesn't get arrested by the Time Agency."
"Apparently he once went by the name 'Koschei'."
"There's a legend about him - they say he met with Death herself. You can't kill him - Death is on his side."
"Nah - it was definitely Luck. Lady Luck. Wonder if he'll give me her number..."
On Gallifrey:
"That's when it all began - when the Master saw eternity. It's said he heard a sound ever since - a drumbeat, a rhythm of four."
"He was so mad he assassinated a President moments before the President was about to retire anyway."
"He found the Eye of Harmony - the real thing, the one the stories say Rassilon found in the Old Times. And then he poked it with a stick and the Constellation of Kasterborous nearly collapsed in on itself."
"He's been resurrected for the Time War. They're sending him to protect the Cruciform."
"He's a spy for the Daleks. He worked with them once, you know."
